- 4Track listing
Chart positions[edit]
The song reached No. 27 on the Billboard Hot 100, No. 38 in the United Kingdom, and No. 19 in Latvia. It also topped the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart for four weeks.
The band re-released the song in the United Kingdom in 1999. The re-released version did much better, reaching No. 13.
Song structure[edit]
The song is highlighted by a harmonica performance by Steven Tyler at the beginning, as well as a strong bass rhythm throughout the song, and a mix of acoustic guitars and jangling electric guitars throughout the verses.
Many of the lines in the verses start with the word 'pink' (e.g. 'Pink it's my new obsession ', 'Pink it's not even a question', 'Pink on the lips of your lover'). The song is also highly suggestive, in that the origin of the fascination with pink stems from the admiration of a woman's reproductive organs, particularly the inner side of the outer lips – the 'pink in the middle' – and also the man's penis – 'I wanna wrap you in rubber' and 'my favorite crayon'.
Music video[edit]
The music video for the song used CGI to morph characters' faces to other bodies. A variety of random characters mixed in with band members moving towards the camera, morphing into different characters in the process (e.g., Joe Perry as a centaur, Brad Whitford as a little boy, Steven Tyler as a skeleton, and a boy dressed as the Easter Bunny). It was directed by Doug Nichol.[1]
Two versions of the music video exist. In the uncensored version, there is a woman dressed in a blue jumpsuit walking towards the camera. For a brief second, the top, unzipped portion of the jumpsuit is pulled away, revealing her right breast. There is another instance where a woman's breasts are briefly fully revealed when a woman, painted blue and green, does a pirouette.
The uncensored version caused minor controversy and MTV asked Nichol to censor the video for daytime airings. As a result, the edited version censored the pirouette scene. The clean version also shows Tyler and Perry presented as a two-headed man and only the coverup portion of the breast reveal scene is present.

Cover art[edit]
The 1997 release cover art had the Aerosmith logo drawn as if it were by a child, in a pink background. In the 1999 re-release, the cover art features the Aerosmith logo and eight stills from the music video.
That’s the original logo.
Live in concert[edit]
As of 2007, 'Pink' is one of only two songs from Nine Lives consistently played on Aerosmith tours, along with 'Falling in Love (Is Hard on the Knees)'.
Covers and other versions[edit]
A different version of the song, The South Beach Re-Mix, was included on the career-spanning compilation O, Yeah! Ultimate Aerosmith Hits.
Japanese edition of the 'Pink' single from 'Nine Lives' features six tracks: three mixes of 'Pink' (Album Version, The South Beach Mix & Live from the Howard Stern Radio Show), plus live versions of 'Falling In Love (Is Hard On The Knees)' & 'Walk This Way' recorded in March 1997. As well, there is a techno remix of 'Falling in Love (Is Hard On The Knees)' titled Moby Fucked Remix.
It is a bonus playable song in the video game Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, and the only track from Nine Lives present in the game. In the Wii and PlayStation 2 versions of this game, the word 'high' (in 'Pink gets me high as a kite') is removed.
Awards[edit]
The song won the band their fourth and most recent Grammy award in 1999 for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.[2]
Additionally, the video won an MTV Video Music Award for Best Rock Video in 1998.[3]

Biography
Alecia Beth Moore, better known as Pink, was born on September 8, 1979, in Doylestown, Pennsylvania in a Vietnam veteran’s family. She is the second cousin of singer/actress Mandy Moore. Raised in a musical family, she was destined to become an artist. Pink started as a dancer, then as a backing vocalist for the local rap group Schools of Thought. She was reluctant to sing somebody’s songs for it was important to her to express what she really felt. Thus, aged 15, she decided to write and perform her own songs. Her next step to glory was joining the group called Basic Instinct, and, later, a female R&B trio called Choice. Pink’s talent and attitude made her an outstanding figure among the other members of the group, which motivated the LaFace Records to offer her a solo contract. Pink paid much attention to her style choosing the bright pink color for her hair and extravagant dressing. In 2000, she delivered her debut album, Can't Take Me Home. It contained Top Ten singles There You Go, and Most Girls. The album collected praiseful reviews and quickly earned the double-platinum status.
While working on her second album, Pink participated in recording the song Lady Marmalade for the musical Moulin Rouge, which also featured such divas as Christina Aguilera, Mya and Lil Kim. The song appeared a huge hit and topped the charts in both the U.S. and the U.K. It climbed the first position in Billboard Hot 100 and won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals. In November 2001, Pink released her second album, Missundaztood. She co-wrote and co-produced most of the tracks along with former 4 Non Blondes vocalist Linda Perry. The album revealed a wider spectrum of music genres, including rock, blues, hip-hop, R&B and pop. It included such hits like Get the Party Started, Don't Let Me Get Me, Just Like a Pill, and Family Portrait. Missundaztood was a much better seller than its predecessor. More than 5 million copies of this album were sold in the U.S. alone. Another big song from Pink was Feel Good Time, featured on the soundtrack to Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, where. Pink also played a bit part.
Pink’s third album, Try This, was released in November 2003. Pink co-wrote most of its lyrics and music in collaboration with Tim Armstrong from the punk rock band Rancid. All the three singles Trouble, God is a DJ, and Last to Know gained much more success in Europe, than in the States, which promoted Pink to tour mostly in Europe. Her next album was originally entitled Long Way to Happy, but was eventually released as I’m Not Dead in April 2006. Its first single Stupid Girls raised hot disputes due to the video parodying a number of Hollywood celebrities. One of the songs from the album, Dear Mr. President, appeared an open letter to President George W. Bush. In May 2006, Pink’s DVD containing concert footage of her Try This European Tour was released. After having a cameo in Charlie’s Angels, Pink had one of the leading roles in the horror Catacombs (2007). In October 2008, she released her fifth album, Funhouse. Much of the new studio album's subject matter alluded to the fact that Pink recently divorced her husband Carey Hart. Funhouse was a balanced blend of upbeat pop gems and midtempo ballads. In 2010 Pink released a very strong compilation album of her best works entitled Greatest Hits... So Far!!!. That record was well received all around the world, which did not turn out to be a surprise: Family Portrait, Please Don't Leave Me, and several new songs, among which Raise Your Glass and Fuckin' Perfect were not left ignored by anyone.
With her several Grammy, BRIT and MTV awards, remarkable image and abundant discography, Pink remains one of the most prominent artists in the modern music world.
Studio Albums
The Truth About Love
P!nk has not lost her a bit of her artistic shape during the time of her absence in stage and in studio, which is testified by her sixth studio album, The Truth About Love, demonstrating all the strengths of this extraordinary singer
Funhouse
Pink's ballads have probably never sounded so soulful and sincere as on her fifth album Funhouse, and their contrast with more positive mid-tempo compositions has never been so striking
I'm Not Dead
I'm Not Dead is one of the finest mainstream pop albums by an established artist to be released in recent years. Every song is artistically mature, engaging, and polished. Above all, this album is pure Pink: rebellious and beautiful
